Exposed, written in collaboration with Kristin J. Heckler, Jacob-Sebastian Phillips, Sarah Raimondi, and Pauline Sherrow, will have its World Premiere on February 2 at The Sonnet Theater at The Producer's Club. The limited run is directed by the Artistic Director of Recognize Theatre, Kristin J. Heckler. The play is based on Miriam Weeks who is best known by her stage name Belle Knox.

A Duke freshman is nationally shamed for her unlikely student loan replacement: pornography. Exposed is the story of a girl who skyrockets to internet stardom and public ridicule after she boldly redefines what it means to "come of age." But are the consequences worth it?

Recognize Theatre adapted part of the script from interviews and articles while other parts were generated through improvisation which was then scripted. Exposed was originally conceived at the New School for Drama in 2015 where an early version of the script was performed.

The cast features Jacob-Sebastian Phillips (MFA/The New School - Newman Scholar for Excellence in Acting), Sarah Raimondi (Grammy Award winner Fred Hammond's Cain and Able/Off-Broadway), and Pauline Sherrow (Sex & Drugs & Rock n Roll/FX). The creative team includes sound design by Emily Auciello.

Performances take place at The Sonnet Theater at The Producers Club, 358 West 44th Street (Between 8th & 9th Ave), New York, NY 10036. Subways: A/C/E/N/R/Q/1/2/3/7 to 42nd street. Tickets are $18.00 and are available at www.exposedplay.brownpapertickets.com - Running time: 90 minutes.

About Recognize Theatre
Recognize Theatre founded in 2014 aims to challenge society's persisting discrimination with regard to gender and sexuality. Productions focus on creating theatre in a recognizable environment, forcing audiences to see the stereotypes they've come to accept, and embolden them to challenge those stereotypes. Recognize Theatre seeks to highlight how the "feminine" still lacks societal value, whether feminine traits are embodied in a man or a woman.

Director Kristin J Heckler is a theatre director and producer residing in New York City. Favorite directing projects include Or, Exposed, Paraphilia: Everyone Has A Sexual Disorder (FringeNYC), How I Learned to Drive, Stop Kiss (Philadelphia Fringe Festival), The Coming World (New School for Drama), and Godspell (Duke University). Her directing roots stem from Montgomery Theater in Souderton, PA where she assistant directed Becky Shaw, Jacob and Jack, The Prisoner of Second Avenue, and Any Wednesday. Although she has focused her career on directing, Kristin also enjoys performing and costume design. She grew up in Sellersville, PA and holds an MFA in Theatre Directing from The New School for Drama and BA's in Women's Studies and Spanish from Duke University. Kristin is passionate about work which draws audience members into a familiar setting and challenges their preconceived notions of gender and sexuality in that location. She can also be found on Uprooted Flower Truck which she co-owns with her girlfriend, Ashley. www.kristinheckler.com
