The WorkShop Theater Company (Scott C. Sickles, Artistic Director), as part of its 2011-2012 Main Stage season, proudly presents Beneath the Hush, a Whisper, a work of historical fiction by new playwright, Abigail Somma, directed by Tom Herman. Beneath the Hush, a Whisper, set at the United Nations in the 1950's tells the story of a British diplomat, assigned to work with Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold on a project that will change the course of history. As his work begins, the conflicted UN appointee faces a personal crisis that tests his idealism and integrity.

The WorkShop Theater Company (www.workshoptheater.org.) opens its new season with Beneath the Hush, a Whisper in September. Performances begin Thursday, September 15, 2011 and open officially on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 8PM at the WorkShop Theater Company (312 W. 36th Street). A limited engagement, Beneath the Hush, A Whisper will play through Saturday, October 8, 2011. A Special Performance takes place on Sunday, September 18, at 3PM in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the death of Dag Hammarskjold. The production is made possible with a grant from The Swedish Council of America.

Beneath the Hush, a Whisper features Greg Oliver Bodine as Stephen Harrison, the troubled former British diplomat and current Assistant Secretary General for Peacekeeping;Shelley McPherson as Margaret Harrison, Stephen's supportive wife; Jed Dickson as Dag Hammarskjold; Joseph Franchini as Ian Trebold, Stephen's ambitious colleague, Mia Moreland as Clare Wilkes, Stephen's free spirited sister; and Heather Massie as Marta, Hammarskjold's knowing secretary.

The design team includes: Jennifer Varbalow (Sets), Cathy Small (Costumes), Diana Duecker(Lights), and John McKinney (sound).
