ARS NOVA Presents YOU LIKE ME Acceptance Speeches Spoof, 2/25
Drama Desk Award Winner, GLAAD Media Award Nominee and Sundance Institute Fellow, Bradford Louryk will accept an Academy Award on Saturday evening, February 25 in Rachel Shukert and Michael Schulman's annual phenomenon, "YOU LIKE ME: AN EVENING OF CLASSIC ACCEPTANCE SPEECHES" at Ars Nova.
Patrons are invited to join a host of noted funny people as they reinterpret classic speeches from award show history, from Meryl Streep to Mariah Carey. No celebrities are safe in this merciless send-up of self-congratulation.
Created by Rachel Shukert (author of Everything Is Going to Be Great) and Michael Schulman (culture writer at The New Yorker), presented by Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) and directed by Peter James Cook (Never Sleep Alone), with music direction by Brandon James Gwinn and production design by Richard H. DiBella. The evening will also feature such talents as This American Life contributor and author David Rakoff (Half Empty), Village Voice gossip columnist Michael Musto, and comedian and author Julie Klausner (I Don't Care About Your Band), as well as Michael Cyril Creighton (Jack in the Box), Dan Fishback, Roslyn Hart (Never Sleep Alone), Julie Lake, Emily McNamara, Molly Pope (Our Hit Parade), Kenny Mellman (Kiki & Herb), Ryan Raftery, and the Varsity Interpretive Dance Squad.
MR. LOURYK will be reenacting MISS Melissa Leo'S famously colorful acceptance speech for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award she earned in 2011 for her equally colorful performance in "The Fighter".
All tickets for "YOU LIKE ME" are $15 and are on sale at www.arsnovanyc.com or 212-352-3101.
