By:

The Secret Theatre has announced the production of Kari Bentley-Quinn's The Unlikely Ascent of Sybil Stevens directed by New Voices Co-Director Christopher Diercksen. The Unlikely Ascent of Sybil Stevens will play a three-week limited engagement at The Secret Theatre (4402 23rd Street, Long Island City, NY 11101). Performances begin Thursday, February 6 and continue through Sunday, February 23, 2014.

Sybil Stevens, a Chicago-based flight attendant, finds her life completely changed when she is the sole survivor of a devastating plane crash. Sybil, still suffering physical and emotional ramifications from the crash, agrees to do a talk show at the urging of her young, publicity hungry nephew. When Joe, the man who saved her life, makes a surprise visit to Chicago, Sybil finds herself having to deal with the unexpected aftereffects of both the crash and her newfound fame. Can she survive being a survivor?

The production features Yeauxlanda Kay, Jennifer Gordon Thomas, Jordan Tierney, Samantha Fairfield Walsh, and Sean Williams.

The production team includes Meredith Ries (Scenic Design), Sarah Bertolozzi (Costume Design), AaRon Porter (Lighting Design), Beth Lake (Sound Design), and Kevin Brouder (Projection Design). The play is produced by Leta Tremblay, and the assistant producer is Yvonne Hartung. Sarah Lahue is the production stage manager. Richard Mazda is the Executive Producer.

The Unlikely Ascent of Sybil Stevens plays the following regular schedule February 6 through February 23: Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8p.m., Sundays at 3p.m.

Tickets are $18 and are available online at www.SecretTheatre.com. Tickets may also be purchased in-person at the theater 30 minutes prior to performance.
