The definition of "by popular demand" -- Josh Drimmer's play the lighthouse invites the storm was chosen as the winner of Sanguine Theatre Company's Project Playwright Competition by a public audience in January. On April 30, Logan Reed (B'way: Asst. Dir., Bronx Bombers) directs the world premiere production at The Chain Theatre in Long Island City, NY.

Two 16-year-olds meet at an artsy pre-college program, where they flirt and fight, but are ultimately unable to handle the love they stumble into. Sixteen years later, they are face-to-face again, and innocent nostalgia is turning into something far more difficult. Funny and heartbreaking, lighthouse is a play about the past never past.

The cast of the lighthouse invites the storm includes: Liba Vaynberg (The Golem of Havana, La Mama; Ether Dome, Huntington Theater), Curry Whitmire (Odyssey: The Epic Musical, Araca Project), Zach Fineblum (Chasing the Song, La Jolla Playhouse), Alli Trussell, and Debargo Sanyal (The Magic of Belle Isle, dir. Rob Reiner). The creative team includes: set designer Brandon Cheney (The Lost Colony), lighting designer Derek Miller (Between the Tigris and the Euphrates, Poetic Theater Productions), costume designer Ashley Simeone, and sound designer Anthony Banda. The stage manager is Amy Oxley. Producers for the lighthouse invites the storm are Jillian Robertson, Karly Fischer, and Anna Fearheiley.

Tickets are $15 in advance ($18 at the door) and available by calling 800-838-3006 or at http://lighthousestc.brownpapertickets.com. Pay-What-You-Can Night on Thursday, May 7. Performances of the lighthouse invites the storm run April 30 through May 17, Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00pm.
