Project Shaw Presents THE MILLIONAIRESS
Gingold Theatrical Group continues its sixth sold-out year of PROJECT SHAW with one of Shaw's most beloved comedies THE MILLIONAIRESS, on Monday, September 26 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produces and directs.
THE MILLIONAIRESS, written in 1935, is Shaw's most madcap comedy. In the play, the richest woman in the world (Kate Mulgrew) has everything, or thinks she does. But after an encounter with a mysterious Egyptian doctor (Colman Domingo), The Millionairess embarks on a life-changing journey through lawyer's offices, sweatshops, and out-of-the-way hotels, finally confronting herself in surprising ways.
Leading the cast of THE MILLIONAIRESS are Kate Mulgrew, whose credits include EQUUS, opposite Daniel Radcliffe, and TV's "Star Trek: Voyager"), and Colman Domingo, whose credits include PASSING STRANGE, A BOY AND HIS SOUL, and THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, for which he received a Tony nomination. THE MILLIONAIRESS also co-stars Peter Bartlett (FREE MAN OF COLOR, THE
DROWSY CHAPERONE, Tony Kushner's THE ILLUSION), Jim Brochu (ZERO HOUR), Nora Chester, Rufus Collins (THE ROYAL FAMILY), Ian Gould, Isabel Keating (SPIDER MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK, Tony nominee for THE BOY FROM OZ), and Don Stephenson (DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY, ROCK OF AGES).
Roma Torre of NY1 narrates and hosts the evening.
