Project Shaw Presents PASSION, POISON AND PETRIFACTION & PRESS CUTTINGS

By: Oct. 31, 2011

Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW presents two short comedies by George Bernard Shaw - PASSION POISON AND PETRIFACTION and PRESS CUTTINGS -- on Monday, November 21 at 7pm at The Players Club (16 Gramercy Park South) in Manhattan. David Staller produces and directs.

Now in its sixth sold-out year, Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW made history in December 2009 as the first company ever to present every play (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches) written by George Bernard Shaw.

PASSION, POISON AND PETRIFACTION is one of Shaw's most light-hearted larks involving murder, sex, betrayal, finance and seltzer. In the one-act play, a jealous husband (Murray) is willing to go to any lengths to keep his wife (Ivey) away from a young dandy (Steggert): even murder.

PRESS CUTTINGS is Shaw's "suffragette comedy," involving a Prime Minister in drag (Gilpin), a conservative General out of control (Murray), a rebellious orderly (Steggert), and some very determined women (Ivey, Darrow, Harris).

The cast includes Brian Murray (THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, THE CRUCIBLE); Bobby Steggert (RAGTIME, YANK!); Judith Ivey (THE GLASS MENAGERIE, THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS); Jack Gilpin (THE ELEPHANT MAN); Cynthia Darlow (BILLY ELLIOT); and Cynthia Harris (COMPANY). Tom Viola, of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, narrates. Jason Zinoman, of the New York Times, is the evening's guest host.

David Staller produces and directs all of the PROJECT SHAW readings.
