Hudson Theatre Works presents Kate Gill's Soundview Summer - get a sneak peek at the company in rehearsal below!
Billy and Jack thought they had found the ideal summer job. Decent hours ... good money ... and it was a no-brainer ... just clean up the Soundview Nuclear Power Plant. Years later, both young men - each deathly ill - must deal with the outcome. The play serves as a multi-faceted parable of world understanding and the courage to make a change ... if not for yourself then for others.
Frank Licato directs a cast, which features Vincent Sagona and BrIan Richardson as the two ill-fated young men with Annie McGovern, Sharon Hope, Stuart Rudin, and Susan Barrett. The entire company appears courtesy of Actors Equity.
"The core inspiration, however, for [my] writing is usually one small thing that inexplicably stops [me] and allows [me] to see things in a new light. It might be a newspaper item, a personal story, a scientific fact, or an odd comment, and the tale begins to unfold," says playwright Kate Gill. Soundview Summer is just such a timely piece. After being nominated for three MITF Awards after its initial workshop presentation, it is now being prepared for a professional run at Theatrelab.
