The Divine Assignment opened to raves and packed houses this past weekend at the John Cullum Theatre of the American Theatre of Actors, 314 W. 54th Street, NYC. BroadwayWorld has a look at the cast in action below!
The engrossing drama with a spiritual flavor is set a few days before Christmas. Choir director, Bey Allman, and her husband, Charles, prepare for the arrival of their son. But the joy is broken when they learn their son has been found dead at the door of the church.
The Crystal Image Performing Arts Company, winner of four Dalrymple Awards (the first award given to Off-Off Broadway) presents this drama written and directed by celebrated playwright and acclaimed educator, Kenthedo Robinson. Cast includes Laurie Avant & Phillip Iweriebor as the Allmans; Stefon Thompson as Sedgrick Furbert, Ms. D as Reverend Virginia Tate, and Timothy Walsh as Detective White.
The production has another full run this weekend: Thurs. April 13 @ 7pm; Fri. April 14 @ 8pm; Sat. April 15 @ 2pm & 8pm; and Sun. April 16 @ 3pm & 7pm. Tickets available on Brownpapertickets.com.
