"Ms. Fulton will be a force to be reckoned with."

"...inspires good thoughts in a world full of negativity."

Playwright Andrea J. Fulton's powerful One Drop will be shown for 12 performances, June 3-22, at the Paul Robeson Theater, 40 Greene Avenue, Brooklyn NY. The large multi-ethnic cast of actors, musicians, and vocalists is directed by Allen C. Harris. Following highly successful performances at Manhattan's Theater for the New City, the Midwinter Madness Festival at the Roy Arias Theater, and the National Black Theater in Harlem, "One Drop" will move to Brooklyn's Paul Robeson Theater, which is undergoing a facelift for this event. Major renovations are currently underway to start restoring the remarkable venue to its original beauty.

One Drop is drawn from a true story of Andrea J. Fulton's family in 1800's Louisiana, in which the central character, a mulatto, is faced with the decision of whether or not to "pass." An exceptional cast enacts the story and the world of Charley, child of a love affair between a black carpenter and the white daughter of a high-born property owner. Though touching on serious issues of power, love, values, loyalty, faith, even American history, playwright Fulton has cleverly constructed One Drop so that it packs a punch with subtlety and charm.

The show also boasts original songs with music and lyrics by Ms. Fulton, performed by singers and musicians on banjo, harmonica, guitar, saxophone, bass and percussion.

ANDREA J. FULTON, born and raised in Chicago, is the youngest of a family who, all but her, hail from the New Orleans area. Her creative abilities were evident early on, and she enjoyed communicating via written and spoken words, poetry, music, drawing and all manner of crafts. A graduate of Northwestern University, Andrea has held positions in New York City government in Human Resources and Health Administration. Her play One Drop, based on a true family story, has recently had successful seasons at Theater for the New City and as part of the Midwinter Madness Short Play Festival.

An Equity-approved showcase.
