OCEAN IN A TEACUP Concert to be Presented at Producers Club NYC
The Next Step Theatre Festival production will be presented Tuesday, June 9 at 2:00 and 7:30 at the Producers Club- Grand Theater in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.
As the Next Step Theatre Festival returns for its second year of writer-led cooperative theatre making, the spotlight turns to "Ocean in a Teacup" presented in concert on Tuesday, June 9 at 2:00 and 7:30 at the Producers Club- Grand Theater in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.
This production brings a powerful true story of pacifism, war, and spiritual awakening to the heart of Midtown Manhattan at the Producers Club - Grand Theater.
"Ocean in a Teacup" (Book & Music by Joel Krantz; Lyrics by Krantz & Neil Selden) tells the extraordinary true story of Thomas Henderson, an American conscientious objector during World War II. Serving as a Red Cross medic in the horrific jungle war of Burma, Henderson betrays his vow never to kill-a moment of crisis that leads him not back home to Ohio, but deep into the turbulent world of 1940s Bengal.
The musical follows Tom as he meets a charismatic Indian doctor and spiritual teacher, Dr. Thakur. When the woman he loves shockingly arrives in India, they are all challenged to learn great lessons of unconditional love and sacrifice.
"Ocean in a Teacup" is a featured selection of the Next Step Theatre Festival (June 8th - June 14), a collective powerhouse where creators bypass traditional industry gatekeepers by sharing expenses and expertise to bring high-concept storytelling directly to New York audiences.
