New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, America's preeminent professional Gilbert & Sullivan repertory company, continues its exciting 2017-18 Season on Thursday, December 28 (3PM) with the family-favorite H.M.S. Pinafore at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (East 68th Street between Park & Lexington Avenues).

The production will play for five performances filled with family bonuses - Bring Your Grandparents Day and Family Overture Series! Filled with infectious tunes and humorous contemporary references, it's no wonder this classic comedy still makes a modern-day splash! The strictly limited engagement will play December 28 - 31!

H.M.S Pinafore - This early satirical sendup helped Gilbert and Sullivan chart a new course for modern musical theatre. The captain's daughter has caught the eye - and the heart - of two men at once: a lowly sailor and the pompous Sir Joseph Porter. Only a bumbling baby-farmer named Little Buttercup can unravel this mess of mistaken identities and mismatched marriages. Filled with infectious tunes and featuring a rousing finale, it's no wonder this classic comedy still makes a modern-day splash!

In the fourth collaboration between Gilbert & Sullivan, H.M.S. Pinafore became their first instant hit. Premiering in London in 1878, H.M.S. Pinafore is among the most popular Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. Countless productions have been presented globally for the past 139 years! Its infectious music, lyrics, and libretto continue to delight audiences of all ages.

With the help of an onstage pianist, Artistic Director Albert Bergeret creates a kid friendly 45-minute session prior to select matinee performances which incorporates history, story plots and musical appreciation! The interactive and fun-filled presentations are offered before the following H.M.S. Pinafore performances:

Bring Your Grandparents Day (Thursday, December 28): Respect your Favorite elders with a pre-show Family Overture (1:45pm in the theater) and a backstage tour following the performance! Your matinee admission is your ticket to the pre-show and backstage tour!

Family Overture (Saturday, December 30): Musical introduction and plot summary made entertaining for the entire family (12:45pm in the theatre). Your matinee admission is your ticket to Family Overture!

H.M.S. Pinafore at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (East 68th Street between Park & Lexington Avenues) will play Thursday, December 28 (3pm, Bring Your Grandparents Days!); Friday, December 29 (7:30pm); Saturday, December 30 (2pm, Family Overture at 12:45pm!); Saturday, December 30 (7:30pm); and Sunday, December 31 (3pm).
