New Light Theater Project Revives Donald Margulies' Tony Award-Nominated TIME STANDS STILL

New Light Theater Project (Producing Director, Michael Aguirre; Artistic Director, Sarah Norris) is thrilled to present a revival of Donald Margulies' Tony Award-nominated play TIME STANDS STILL, directed by Jerry Heymann. TIME STANDS STILL begins performances Thursday, February 8 for a limited engagement through Saturday, February 24. Press opening is Sunday, February 11 at 3 PM. Sarah, a photo-journalist, just returned from covering the Iraq war after being severely injured by a roadside bomb. Her reporter boyfriend James is swamped by guilt for leaving Sarah alone in Iraq just two weeks before she was nearly killed. When they receive a visit from their friend Richard, Sarah's mentor, and his much younger girlfriend Mandy, Sarah and James find the survival of their relationship tested.

Called "Margulies's finest play since the Pulitzer Prize-winning Dinner With Friends" by the New York Times, TIME STANDS STILL is about two battle-scarred journalists faced with the prospect of living a conventional life.

The cast features Assol Abdullina (Home/Range with The Anthropologists); Ross DeGraw (Honor Bound at St. Lukes Theatre); John Long (The Three Musketeers at Syracuse Stage); and Nancy Nagrant (Shakespeare's Slave by Steven Fechter at the Clurman).

The design team includes Brian Dudkiewicz (scenic design); Ali Hall (lighting design); Ashleigh Poteat(costume design); Andy Cohen (sound design); and Stephanie Gonzalez (prop design). The production stage manager is Kelsy Durkin. The assistant stage manager is Lindsey Hurley. The technical director is ToniAnne DiFilippo.

Donald Margulies (playwright) is an American playwright and a professor of English and Theater Studies at Yale University. In 2000, he received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for his play Dinner with Friends. He has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts, the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and a MacDowell Colony Fellowship. He was playwright-in-residence at the Sundance Playwrights Conference for three summers; Collected Stories was developed there, as was an early version of Sight Unseen. Margulies is an alumnus of New Dramatists and serves on the council of the Dramatists Guild of America.

Jerry Heymann (director) is an award-winning director. Select credits include: Call Me Charlie with Danny DeVito (La Mama), My Daddy's Serious American Gift (Tiffany Theatre in LA), A Country For Old Men(American Stage Company), Three (Ensemble Studio Theatre), and Demeter's Lost Daughter (St. Clement's Theatre).
