NY Theatre Festival Winterfest To Present IN THE WAR By Kotoba Dan

'IN THE WAR', a short play written and directed by Kotoba Dan, with music composed by Nabuko Kiryu, will premiere as part of NY Theatre Festival Winterfest 2019.

This is a story of an ordinary Japanese woman who survived WW2, based on true events from the lives of playwright's grandparents. When 76 year-old Hisako's granddaughter asks her about her experience during the war, Hisako reminisces about her 20s, set to the beautiful music of her youth.

Kotoba's piece looks at WW2 from the perspective of twenty year old Japanese survivor, based on the experiences of her grandmother, during the war and right after.

New York based Japanese artists Nabuko Kiryu (Music), Shigeko Sara Suga and Yuriko Miyake (Old and Young-Hisako) joined to share the story. Graphic designer Yosuke Kaneko and lighting designer Takaaki Ando support the team.

Showing March 7th, 8th at 6:15pm and 10th at 8:30pm at Hudson Guild Theatre in Chelsea. To purchase tickets:https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3910927
