Location: The Tank at 354 W. 45th Street, New York, NY 10036

About The Show

Hailing from Michigan and arriving in Brooklyn via New Haven and Seattle, Loop 2.4.3 adds piano, voice, strings and two instruments of their invention, the Rose Echo and eLog, to percussion. These instruments are part of a unique instrumental set-up that Loop 2.4.3 has been using on the road to demonstrate that what people thought was a studio overdub record is really just four-hands and a room of percussion gear.

Loop 2.4.3, who made "the most hypnotic record of the year, by banging on stuff" (Movement Magazine), will showcase music from that album alongside brand new material.

Ongoing collaborators TERESA SMITH (choreography/dance) and TOM BURNETT (poetry/projections) will join for multi-media performances of new music, poetry, and dance.

Loop 2.4.3 has performed with Clogs, Newband (Harry Partch Ensemble), Dafnis Prieto, Belle Orchestre, the Books, Evan Ziporyn, Sufjan Stevens, Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond, the Decemberists), Joe Morello, their late mentor Robert Hohner, dancer/choreographer Alan Good, director John Jeserun, as soloists with the Brooklyn Philharmonic at the BAM Opera House, and at Times Square as a collaboration with Robert Indiana, Michael McKenzie and Teresa Smith.
They have toured internationally and performed for radio, theater, and television, including footage for The Learning Channel and MTV, and appearances at the Sydney Festival, the London Jazz Festival, Merkin Hall, and the Japan Society (NYC) among others. Well known for their live shows, recent Loop 2.4.3 performances have been described as "Transportive" (Boston Phoenix), "Intricate and energetic" (The New York Times), "Mesmerizing...stunning" (Time Out Chicago), "a hard driving set" (Alex Ross, the New Yorker), and "a mind-blowing show" (Sean Boyd, Art Farm Recordings).

TOM T-BYRD BURNETT has been a member of the performance orchestra Coocoohandler and of downtown cult show Uncle Jimmy's Dirty Basement. As solo performer and spoken word practitioner he has presented at PS 122, the Kitchen, Bowery Poetry Club and more including venues in Louisville, Chicago, Seattle and San Francisco. "Walter Winchell on speed" proclaims the Chicago Tribune. "Mr. Burnett is one performer who can literally and figuratively talk up a storm" (New York Times).

Choreographer/Improviser TERESA SMITH, whose background includes anthropology, visual art, writing and somatics, collaborates from concept to stage with artists, designers, musicians, writers, directors and the community to create truly collaborative works. Teresa Smith has performed at Dance Space / St. Mark's, Joyce Soho Theater, Dance Theater Workshop, Jim Kempner Gallery, Marquee Nightclub and P.S.122 in New York, The Cowell Theater and Theater Artaud (S.F.), Naropa Institute (CO), The Washington D.C. Improvisation Festival, The Seattle Festival of Alternative Dance and Improvisation (WA), and at avant garde venues in the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain.
