LOST VOICES Explores Hurricane Katrina; Opens Tonight at HERE

EAGLE PROJECT will present LOST VOICES, an evening of two World Premiere plays written by Larissa Fasthorse and Elise Marenson both directed by Jessi D. Hill. LOST VOICES is an evening of two short plays that explore how Hurricane Katrina uncovered America's darkest secrets.

VANISHING POINT, written by Lakota playwright Larissa Fasthorse, is a new work inspired by three different tribes who are currently losing land because of rising waters and who are considered "America's first official climate refugees."

WIDE BLOSSOMS by Elise Marenson, deals with a young African American woman who reveals a secret to a seemingly white lawyer that in the end, we are all connected to one another.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

ELISE MARENSON has appeared in more than thirty stage productions before leaving acting in favor of writing. In 2015, her play Real Estate of Emergency, a cry against neighborhood gentrification, was produced at the Metropolitan Playhouse in New York. Her play Learn To Drive was voted Best Drama at the First Stage Los Angeles Playwrights Festival in 2014. A production of her play Colony was featured in the 2014 Midtown International Theatre Festival. Also in 2014, her comedy Head Trauma played at the Roy Arias Theatre. In 2011, she wrote and directed Straight From The Rib gleaned from her life experience, with twenty-seven monologues performed by a cast of nine women of all ages. She directed productions at the Abingdon Theatre, WorkShop Theater Company, Samuel French OOB Festival, New Center Stages, Strawberry Theatre Festival, Sounding Theater, Atlantic Theater School, Westbeth Theatre, The Triad, as well as numerous readings. Many of her screenplays have been finalists in major competitions including: Ace Fest, Filmmakers International, Scriptapalooza, and Chesterfield Writers Film Project competitions. Two scripts are currently under option. She is a member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA, and NY Women in Film & Television. Elise recently completed the two-hour pilot for an upcoming TV crime series. She is currently developing two full length stage plays, American Flamingos and Comfort Zones.

Larissa Fasthorse is an award-winning playwright, director, and choreographer based in Santa Monica. Her produced plays include Urban Rez, Landless, Average Family, Teaching Disco Squaredancing to Our Elders: a Class Presentation, and Cherokee Family Reunion. She has written commissions for Kennedy Center TYA, Native Voices at the Autry, Artist's Rep, The Eagle Project and Mountainside Theatre, among others. She developed plays with Kansas City Rep, Artist's Rep in Portland, Baltimore's Center Stage, Arizona Theater Company, Mixed Blood, the Center Theatre Group Writer's Workshop and Berkeley Rep's Ground Floor. Larissa was awarded the PEN USA Literary Award for Drama, NEA Distinguished New Play Development Grant, Joe Dowling Annamaghkerrig Fellowship, AATE Distinguished Play Award, Inge Residency, Sundance/Ford Foundation Fellowship, Aurand Harris Fellowship, the UCLA Native American Program Woman of the Year and numerous Ford and NEA Grants. She is a current member of the Playwright's Union, Director's Lab West 2015, Theatre Communications Group board of directors, Playwright's Center Core Writers and is an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, Lakota Nation.

Jessi D. Hill (Director) is a theatre director based in New York City. New York credits include new work at New York Theatre Workshop, The Public Theater/Joe's Pub, The Playwrights' Center, Primary Stages, Labyrinth, The Women's Project, 59E59, The New Group, Ensemble Studio Theatre, terraNOVA Collective, Culture Project, The Acting Company, The Barrow Group, PS122, Abingdon, Baruch Performing Arts Center, New Dramatists, The Lark, The Playwrights Realm, New Georges, Naked Angels, The Wild Project, and others. She has been a director in professional training programs at Yale School of Drama, Juilliard, The Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, Fordham University, Long Island University, Powerhouse/NY Stage & Film, NYU/Tisch, Strasberg, CAP21, The Atlantic School, Playwrights Horizons Theatre School, Hunter College and others. Her work has been seen internationally in Edinburgh, London and New Zealand

EAGLE PROJECT, founded in 2012 by Nanticoke Lenni-Lenape tribe member and NYC actor Ryan Victor Pierce (aka "Little Eagle") hopes to use theater to foster a community of artists and audience to give the Native American stories their proper place in American Theater.
