INTERMISSION Begins Performances 5/2 at Theatre Row

By:

Voyage Theater Company and B2Y Entertainment present the World Premiere of the play-within-a-play comedy INTERMISSION by Daniel Libman. Directed by Wayne Maugans, previews begin May 2 at The Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row. Opening is slated for Thursday, May 8. INTERMISSION is performed without an intermission.

When a married couple attends the opening night of a new play by an anonymous playwright, they find themselves swept up in a series of events that will change their lives forever. INTERMISSION is an intricately constructed comedy about love, sex, and identity where the performance onstage bleeds into the world offstage.

INTERMISSION stars Michael Brusasco, Jessica Griffin, Carol Todd, and Margot White with a production team that includes designers Paul Bartlett (lighting), Bruce Ellman (sound), Peri Grabin (costumes), and Jay Ryan (sets); Production Stage Manager Jim Pelegano; Assistant Stage Manager Sara Troficanto; and Producer Charles C. Bales.

Playwright, actor, and director Daniel Libman was born and raised in Montreal, and has been based in Calgary since 1982. Daniel spent many years as Playwright-in-Residence at Workshop West (Edmonton) and Alberta Theatre Projects (Calgary). He has had over 50 productions across North America, including two translations in New York - O'Neill in 2000 and Alma and Mrs. Woolf in 2003. He has acted in and directed plays across Canada and sits on the National Council of ACTRA, Canada's film and TV performers' union. He has performed supporting roles in American feature films and has guest-starred on Canadian TV series, while teaching at numerous theatre school programs in Western Canada. He has also directed plays at American Place Theater, Nada, Main Street Arts Center (Nyack), and Atlantic Theater Conservatory. Wayne taught acting and directing with Joseph Chaikin from 1997-2002 and received his MFA in Directing from CUNY-Brooklyn College in 2010. He is a member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab.

Voyage Theater Company presents new and unheralded plays and playwrights from around the world. Past productions include Mario Fratti's Obama 44 at La Mama and Aleksei Arbuzov's My Poor Marat at Canal Park Playhouse (presented in both Russian and English).
