This summer, the Harbor Lights Theater Company presents The Bikinis, an original show guaranteed to make you to jump out of seat! Opening in the heart of bikini wearing weather, from August 7th - the 17th at the Music Hall at Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Gardens, The Bikinis will have the audience singing along and dancing in the aisles. It's a new musical beach party!

Harbor Lights, led by Executive Artistic Director Tamara Jenkins, Co-Artistic Director Jay Montgomery, and Associate Producer Beth Gittleman, is thrilled to showcase The Bikinis, created and written by Ray Roderick and James Hindman. Broadway veteran Ray Roderick, no stranger to Harbor Lights, having orchestrated their hugely successful productions of The Music Man and Oliver!, will direct.

Shows are August 7,8 and 9th at 8 p.m.; August 10th at 2 p.m.; Ausut 14, 15, 16 at 8 p.m. and August 17 at 2 p.m.

The Bikinis features the timeless songs of the 60's and early 70's, brought back to life by a group of inseparable girlfriends - four girls who, back in the day, came to be known as "The Bikinis," after winning a Belmar Beach, New Jersey, talent contest in their bikinis! As the play unfolds, Jodi and Annie, two sisters from Paramus, New Jersey, Karla, their slightly manipulative first cousin from Philly, and their best friend Barbara, from Staten Island, get back together to raise money for the Sandy Shores Mobile Home Beach Resort, where they played in their heyday.

The unforgettable score contains classics like "Its In His Kiss," "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini," "Heat Wave," "Under the Boardwalk," " These Boots Are Made For Walkin,'" "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," "Incense and Peppermints," "Look What They've Done to My Song, Ma," "When Will I Be Loved," "I'm Every Woman," "I Will Survive," "It's Raining Men," and many more!

The Bikinis has garnered rave reviews across the nation. The Star Ledger described the production as, "a show with fire, style and nostalgia...The Bikinis succeeds as a terrific concert for those who remember the era when boots were made for walkin' and when one's baby did the hanky-panky. A nostalgic funride."

Out in New Jersey said, "The Bikinis is about first love, endless summer days, & amazing music. Act 1 is filled with some of the best music from that era. 'Under The Boardwalk', 'Chapel Of Love', & 'It's In His Kiss' kept the audience literally dancing in their seats. Act 2 begins at the cusp of the Vietnam War & 'flower power' is taking over. The ladies take us back to the era of peace & love with renditions of such classics as 'Time Of The Season' & 'Incense & Peppermints'. The party continues though, when renditions of such disco classics as 'Last Dance' & 'It's Raining Men' bring us into the 70's all over again! The ladies give us one final number together, & then the beach balls come out, bringing the audience to their feet for a true 'beach party'!"
