HERO Theatre Hosts A Reading Of ANOTHER PART OF THE HOUSE 11/7

HERO Theatre presents a benefit reading of "Another Part of the House" on Monday November 7, 2011, 7:30PM at the New Ohio Theatre, 154 Christopher Street, New York City, the second in the company's reading series. Acclaimed Mabou Mines co-artistic director Sharon Fogarty will direct a cast featuring Mabou Mines' Ruth Maleczech alongside a talented ensemble of emerging artists. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.HEROtheatre.org.

Cruz's dynamic re-imagined work of Federico Garcia Lorca's masterpiece "The House of Bernarda Alba" portrays a passion-filled tale of women in the time of revolution in Cuba. Along with Maleczech, the cast includes Elisa Bocanegra, Kevin Fugaro, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Flor de Liz Perez, Judith Delgado, Anna Lamadrid, Anya Migdal, Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Bobby Plasencia.

Olympia Dukakis is head of HERO Theatre's Advisory Board. Other members include Michael Ritchie (Artistic Director of the Center Theatre Group), Jenny Gersten (Artistic Director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival), Bill Rauch (Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival), esteemed director Michael Wilson, acclaimed actor Michael Cumpsty, distinguished playwright Migdalia Cruz, noted Russian writer Tatyana Tolstaya and Judy Bowman of Judy Bowman Casting.

Elisa Bocanegra, Artistic Director, and Producing Director, Anya Migdal founded HERO Theatre earlier this year with the objective of presenting classical plays and groundbreaking adaptations of the classics.? HERO's ensemble consists of some of today's most notable and emerging actors from diverse backgrounds and training in stage, television and film. Its mission is to build bridges between various cultures by presenting the classics and adaptations of classics using their multi-ethnic ensemble of actors.

Bocanegra and Migdal's inspiration for HERO Theatre came about from the encouragement and support of their respected colleagues, many who have donated their time, talent and name to HERO's advisory board and its numerous events. This performance is the second for HERO's Reading Series and its fundraising efforts to present a first full-scale production of Anton Chekhov's "Three Sisters".? The next benefit reading will be Shakespeare's "As You Like It," directed by Jackson Gay will be held in NYC on December 5, 2011.
