Emerging Artists Theatre Presents The Premiere Of Marianne Ferrari's Solo Play GUIDO GIRL 10/6-11/1
By: Reynard Loki
Emerging Artists Theatre, Paul Adams, Artistic Director and Derek Jamison, Associate Artistic Director, present Guido Girl by Marianne Ferrari, produced by Agustine Welles, at TADA Theatre, beginning October 6. The production is directed by EAT member TRoy Miller.
Guido Girl is a coming-of-age memoir about a young woman’s desire to get out of the Bronx! From the deck of the Andrea Doria, to the lights of Broadway, she struggles to realize her destiny and follow her dreams, complete with all the accessories any girl could ever dream of - music, love, sex, ambition, tanning, make-up and boys.Says Marianne Ferrari, "Right after 9/11, I was in Los Angeles feeling sorry for myself. I thought of my parents…their destiny, their surviving World War II. My destiny. You see, my parents met and fell in love on the Andrea Doria. The Andrea Doria, the ship that was struck by the Stockholm off the coast of Nantucket and went down in the Atlantic Ocean on July 25, 1956. My parents pulled into New York Harbor on the beautiful Andrea Doria a year to The Day Before it sank - July 25, 1955. A year to the day! Why then? Why not a year later? My parents had a story and, yes, me too. I wrote the first thought that came to mind - Guido Girl dreams…”available at 800-838-3006 or www.brownpapertickets.com.
