Edwin Sanchez's UNMERCIFUL GOOD FORTUNE to Return to New York
Eddie Sánchez's award-winning play, UNMERCIFUL GOOD FORTUNE will be directed by Christopher Olsen and Rosalina Perales, first done in Puerto Rico last year, and now in New York at the Teatro Flamboyan at The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural & Educational Center in downtown Manhattan.
The performance dates are May 25th through the 28th. All performances are in English, but there will be a reading of the Spanish language version of the play on May 27th at 2pm followed by a talk back with the directors and playwright.
About the play: UNMERCIFUL GOOD FORTUNE centers on two Latinas: Fatima, a clairvoyant, uneducated hourly wage earner-turned murderer and Maritza, a semi successful, highly educated assistant district attorney, a single parent caring for her dying mother. From this unlikely pairing a story builds that examines class, racial and gender conflicts, family and professional relationships, heterosexual and homosexual love, personal worth and the ethics of euthanasia.
