Dialogue with Three Chords Kicks Off 2013 Season with THE ROUGH AND SWEET QUARTET Tonight

By:

Dialogue with Three Chords presents "The Rough and Sweet Quartet" from playwright Stephen Gracia to launch their 2013 season of independent theatre. "The Rough and Sweet Quartet" includes four new plays from Gracia, all directed by Michael LoPorto. The plays are "about love, lust, transformation, drinks with the devil, and the stories we tell each other" says Gracia. The performance is tonight, February 28 at 8pm downstairs at Mr. Dennehy's pub on 63 Carmine Street in Manhattan. Admission is free with $3 suggested donation.

"The Rough and Sweet Quartet," Gracia explains, consists of "four new plays exploring strange beauty, dysfunction, and catharsis." The show also features characters that fans of Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) will recognize: "'The Rough and Sweet Quartet' finds a collection of familiar D3C characters settling in for last call," notes Gracia, "The previous year and a half has featured a lot of stories of abuse, violence, and heartbreak, and I wanted to bring specific characters back for a bit of booze and some hope, for once."

"The Rough and Sweet Quartet" consists of four complimentary plays: 'Howling in the Beerlight,' 'A Stone that Breaks all Hearts,' 'No True Places,' and 'All Your favorite Poems were about Birds.' The show is presented as a tongue-in-cheek post Valentines Day celebration, featuring themes of love, transformation, heartbreak, and finding solace in the embrace and compassion of others.

Their work has also been produced at Sargent Theatre, Makor Theater, DUMBO Theatre Exchange, Levenson Hall at Brooklyn College, and the Theaters at 45 Bleecker.
