Wave Productions will present the World Premiere of Charles Cissel's WALLOP, directed by Robin A. Paterson, with dramaturgy by Karen Brown. Previews begin October 10 at Robert Moss Theatre with opening slated for October 16.

Set in Harlem in 1989, WALLOP is a hilarious new drama that follows the stories of three African-American siblings as they struggle in their working-class upbringing and the crowded, tumultuous confines of their family home. When a new, white friend from Downtown arrives on the scene and an improbable romance blossoms, the family is thrust headfirst into a chaotic confrontation about family, race, and responsibility.

WALLOP stars Duane N. Cooper (Axel Brodie on Fox's Yu Gi Oh!), Angelica Gregory (A Midsummer Night's Dream at Classic Stage Company), Zuhairah (Barrymore Award nominee for Sojourner), Wilton Guzman (Latin Lives), Benjamin Katz (We Once Were with Pipeline) , Temesgen Tocruray (Rum For Sale at Signature) and Jay Ward (Audelco Award nominee for Cool Blues at New Federal Theatre). The production team features set by Michael Minahan, costumes by Ali Turns, lighting by Paul Chambers, original sound and music by Timothy Giles, fight choreography by Theik Smith and Martin Boersma and production stage management by Laura Perez.

Charles Cissel has had five plays produced Off-Off Broadway including ORGANIC SHRAPNEL, GOD STEELING, HOME SWEET HOME/CRACK, ROSA RUGOSA/TOUCH ME, and SPLATTER. These plays have been presented at venues including The Ohio Theater, Theatre 54, Center Stage and Theatre 22. As an actor, he has performed in 3 Tennessee Williams, 3 Greek Tragedies, 2 Albees, 1 Odets and 1 O'Neill.

Robin A. Paterson's international career spans more than 150 productions. Active in the creation of new plays, he has collaborated on more than 50 premieres. New York premieres include ORGANIC SHRAPNEL and GOD STEELING by Charles Cissel (Wave Productions); TWO-MAN KIDNAPPING RULE by Joseph Gallo (New Ohio Theatre); PSYCHOMACHIA by Jennifer Lane (Artistic New Directions); STRESS POSITIONS by Daniel Sweren-Becker (SoHo Playhouse); HUMANS ANONYMOUS by Kate Hewlett (Bridge Theatre Company); ZARATHUSTRA SAID SOME THINGS, NO? by Trevor Ferguson (Infinitheatre); and MAKING MARILYN by Ken Cameron (Bridge Theatre Company). Since September 2006, Robin has been the Managing Artistic Director of Shetler Studios & Theatres.
