Bindlestiff Family Cirkus to Present A CARDBOARD & DUCT TAPE SPECTACULAR

By:

A little imagination can go a long way and the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus continues to re-imagine classic American circus tradition with a unique contemporary twist. The legendary troupe returns to New York City with a brand new show. "A Cardboard and Duct Tape Spectacular" strips away the glossy veneer of modern entertainment and celebrates a do-it-yourself ethic bringing together the raw elements of passion, play and circus skill. This back to basics production plays the Connelly Theater (220 East 4th Street, NYC) for a limited run of six spectacular performances from May 5 - 8.

Join the Bindlestiff cast of acrobats, aerialists, jugglers, sideshow marvels, adhesion specialists, musicians, corrugated engineers and vaudevillians as they arrive at the theater to present a show, only to find that their trunks have been delivered... empty! Always ready to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary, the Bindlestiff cast soon realizes that the solution to the situation is rooted in their own childhood experiences of fun. Like so many children, playing with the box that once contained a fancy toy is sometimes more fun than playing with the toy itself. In that same spirit, the Bindlestiffs soon discover that some cardboard, duct tape and their imagination is all they really need to find delight. A Cardboard and Duct Tape Spectacular" showcases an amazing assemblage of skills including aerial performances, funambulism, contortion, sword swallowing, juggling, and so much more. Featuring multi-talented Bindlestiff Family Cirkus co-founders Stephanie Monseu and Keith Nelson, along with the artistry of Miss Ekaterina, Adam Kuchler, Richard Maguire and Peter Bufano, "A Cardboard and Duct Tape Spectacular" will captivate audiences with this whimsical presentation of spectacular simplicity. The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus features grown-up entertainment during its evening performances (ages 18 and over strongly suggested), while the weekend matinees are ideal for the whole family.

A New York City institution for alternative circus arts since 1995, the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus has traveled the world to bring its unique hybrid of vaudeville, circus, burlesque and sideshow to theaters, clubs, colleges and festivals, along with over a dozen Off and Off Off Broadway shows. More than 400 circus and variety arts stars have stepped into the spotlight under the Bindlestiff banner, including featured acts from the biggest circuses in the world, internationally renowned street performers and local legends. Come one, come all and get your tickets now for the Cirkus!
