On Saturday, March 12 at 1:30pm, BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center presents, Runt of the Litter, the compelling story of Jack Henry, a scrawny young boy whose commitment to fulfilling his father's far-reaching expectations leads to his own dream of playing professional football. More than a journey into the world of professional sports, Bo Eason's moving semi-autobiographical play is a powerful story about an American family, competition between brothers, and the relentless pursuit of winning. Mr. Eason became a safety for the Houston Oilers in 1984 and makes his debut as a playwright with this play. Runt of the Litter is resolutely American in its themes (the competitiveness of sports, sibling rivalry, underdog triumphs), yet also contains elements of ritual theater that give the material a mythic resonance and power. The show cuts across all demographics and has an across-the-board appeal for everyone, from sports enthusiasts to hardcore theater lovers. It's no surprise that BMCC TribecaPAC Program Director, Mario Giacalone, calls it the "Inspirational Pick" of the season or that the New York Times declared it, "One of the most powerful plays about sports in the last decade." Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at www.tribecapac.org or by calling Ticketing Services: 212.220.1460.
