Amoralists Present PIED PIPERS, HAPPY IN THE POORHOUSE at PS122, 7/29-8/23

The Amoralists proudly present The Amoralists Curtain Call, featuring revivals of two of their wildly popular plays, The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side and Happy In The Poorhouse, both written and directed by Derek Ahonen. The Amoralists Curtain Call runs from July 29 to August 23, 2010 in a limited engagement at Performance Space 122 (downstairs), located at 150 1st Avenue (at East 9th Street) in NYC. The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side plays July 29 to August 9, and Happy In The Poorhouse plays August 12 to 23.

Performances are Thursday, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays at 7pm and Sundays at 5pm. Additional Pied Pipers performance on Tuesday, August 3 at 1pm and additional Poorhouse performance on Tuesday, August 17 at 1pm. Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for students and can be purchased online at http://www.ps122.org or by calling 212-352-3101. $35 tickets are available by purchasing a special 2-show package for $70. Warning: Explicit sexual content and utopian ideals - no one under 17 will be admitted into Pied Pipers. Running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes including two intermissions for Pied Pipers. Derek Ahonen is the resident playwright of The Amoralists Theatre Company. The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side cast includes James Kautz as Billy, Nick Lawson as Evan, Sarah Lemp as Dear, Charles Meola as Donovan, MAndy Moore as Dawn and Matthew Pilieci as Wyatt. The design and production team consists of Alfred Shatz (Set Design and Fight Choreography), Jeremy Pape (Lighting Design), Ricky Lang (Costume Design), The Hernandez Brothers (Sound Design) and Dan Lockhart (Assistant Director).

The Amoralists is a critically acclaimed theatre company that was formed in 2006 by actors James Kautz and Matthew Pilieci, and playwright/director Derek Ahonen on a car ride to Las Vegas. With a goal of winning $50,000 to start their company they lost $5,000 and founded it regardless. Through its first three seasons The Amoralists have produced six original full-length plays to rave reviews and sold out houses. In 2009, Meghan Ritchie and Matthew Fraley joined the Amoralists family as producing partners. That summer, their play, The Pied Pipers of the Lower East Side, ran from June 2 to October 5, extending two times before transferring successfully to an Off Broadway run. The play was named to numerous 2009 Top Ten Lists, including Elisabeth Vincentelli's of The New York Post and Adam Feldman's of TimeOut New York.
