Veritas Productions proudly presents A Body Without A Head, a theatrical fable written and directed by George R. Carr, April 28 through May 2, 2008 at manhattantheatresource (177 MacDougal Street).

On a moonlit beach, twelve souls – both living and eternal – find comfort in the darkness and each other. What happens when they reflect the light of their thoughts, their pasts and hopes for the future on one another?  Will they find their way home?

A Body Without A Head is a theatrical riff on George R. Carr's stunning collection of poems for anyone anywhere who at anytime has lost his head to love.  Written during a trip to St. Tropez, the odes were inspired by the island's namesake, Saint Torpes, a martyr who was beheaded for holding fast to his spiritual beliefs.  Upon hearing the enigmatic tale, Carr wrote the series of poems, which were later published alongside his brother Zack Carr III's sketches in a book of the same name.

Now, Veritas Productions brings the poems to life with an evocative, dreamlike production paired with an exhibition of Zack's sketches, recently featured in the April 2008 edition of Vanity Fair.  The production's wardrobe is provided by Kevin Carrigan, Creative Director of ck Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein.

Performances of A Body Without A Head run April 28 through May 2, 2008, Monday through Friday at 8:00 pm, at manhattantheatresource (177 MacDougal Street, between Waverly Place and West 8th Street; Subway: A/C/E/ or B/D/F/V to West 4th Street). Tickets are $18 at www.theatresource.org or (212) 352-3101.  All performances are open to the press.  The running time is 70 minutes without intermission.  It is an Equity-approved showcase.

A Body Without A Head stars Courtney Allen, James Edward Becton*, Sarah Doudna, Matt Drago*, Olivia Julien, Brian Karim*, Catherine Kjome*, Terrence Michael McCrossan, Barbara Mundy*, John Van Ness Philip*, Stephen Seidel and Mark McCullough Thomas.  The creative team includes Andrew Loren Resto (production design), Drew Vanderburg (lighting design), Amodeo Petti (marketing agency), and Melissa Riker (choreographer).  Gotham Wine Events is a production partner.
