Continuing a Summer Shakespeare series that began with last season's production of King Lear, called "insanely good" by The Brooklyn Paper, The Gallery Players proudly announces casting and creative team for Shakespeare's seminal work, Hamlet. Directed by Taibi Magar and starring Broadway's Jeremy Bobb (Is He Dead?; Translations) as Hamlet, The Gallery Players' production of Hamlet gets a limited, twelve performance engagement Thursday, July 22 - Sunday, August 1, 2010.

A ghost story; a tale of fratricide; a saga of moral, political and sexual corruption. Hamlet is an epic tale about a man catapulted into revenging his father's murder. But Hamlet's journey is complicated by his doubts concerning the afterlife; "the undiscovered country." An eternity is at stake!

The cast of Hamlet is led by Jeremy Bobb in the title role (Broadway: Is He Dead?; Translations) and Brendan Averett as Claudius (Sarah Ruhl's The Passion Play, Yale Rep and Brooklyn's Irondale Center). The cast is rounded out by a cast of veteran classical actors: Oliver Conant* (Off-Broadway: Elizabeth Rex, Nicu's Spoon; Queens Shakespeare Co.), Tim Eliot (Hudson Shakespeare), Sidney Fortner*, Nedra Gallegos*, Justin Gillman (Twelfth Night, Classic Stage Company), Andy Hassell, Vin Kridakorn (Taming of the Shrew, Queen's Players), E.C. Kelly* (As You Like It, The Gallery Players), Aryeh Lappin (Charles Mee's Coney Island Avenue), Dan Lawrence and Stephen Pilkington* (Pinter's Mirror, Shakespeare & Company).

Hamlet is directed by Taibi Magar (asst. director, Shakespeare on the Sound; Broadway's Exit the King) and the Producer is Dominic Cuskern for The Gallery Players. The associate producer is Hannah Mason, associate producer & dramaturg is Oleg Ivanov, assistant director is Rachel Wohlander. The lighting design is by Stephen Sokowski, set design is by Tom George (asst. set design, La Jolla Playhouse), sound design is by Toby Algy and costume design is by Allison Crutchfield. The fight choreographer is John Hayden (Broadway: Tartuffe) and the Production Stage Manager is Heather Arnson*. *courtesy of Actor's Equity Association.

Hamlet opens Thursday, July 22, 2010 and runs Thursdays, Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 2 pm & 7:30 pm and Sundays at 3 pm through August 1, 2010. There will be two special weekday performances Monday, July 26th at 7:30 pm (pay what you can) and Wednesday, July 28th at 7:30 pm.
