TACT to Welcome Christoper Durang for BEYOND THERAPY Talkback, 4/12

TACT/The Actors Company Theatre, the critically-acclaimed company "dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit," and named "2012 Company of the Year" by Terry Teachout of The Wall Street Journal, have announced post performance discussions to follow select performances of its production of Beyond Therapy by Christopher Durang. TACT Co-Artistic and Executive Director Scott Alan Evans directs. The show officially opens tonight.

In Beyond Therapy, life can be crazy. Therapy can help? In its first New York revival, Christopher Durang's razor sharp comedy about the search for a meaningful relationship in an insane world may provide the best therapy of all - guaranteed laughter. "Christopher Durang has the wit, the high, rebellious spirits, and the rage of the born satirist. He is also one of the funniest and most original playwrights at work.

In addition to regularly scheduled talk-backs with the director and cast following every Sunday 2pm matinee performance of Beyond Therapy, the company will present the following post-performance discussions:

Friday, March 28 (immediately following the 8:00pm performance)
NOTED PSYCHIATRIST AND AUTHOR DR. SIRGAY SANGER LEADS AN INSIGHTFUL DISCUSSION ABOUT THE EVOLUTION OF PSYCHIATRY AND ITS CULTURAL IMPACT

Dr. Sirgay Sanger was educated at Harvard and Harvard Medical School where he continued at its teaching hospitals for seven years returning to his native New York to join the staff at NY-Cornell, and then at Columbia-St Luke's. A graduate of the Columbia Psychoanalytic Clinic, he has written 4 books on children, numerous articles, and founded and directed The Early Care Center and The Harvard Padua Alliance for Medicine. He also chaired the Venice Committee of the World Monuments Fund and the National Council on Problem Gambling. Now he enjoys full time practice of psychiatry and psychoanalysis for children and adults.

AN IN-DEPTH DISCUSSION WITH TONY AWARD-WINNING PLAYWRIGHT CHRISTOPHER DURANG
Christopher Durang has had plays on and off-Broadway including A History of the American Film (Tony Award nomination), Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You (Obie Award), Baby with the Bathwater, The Marriage of Bette and Boo (Obie Award, Dramatists Guild Hull Warriner Award), Laughing Wild,Betty's Summer Vacation (Obie Award), Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge, Miss Witherspoon (2005 Pulitzer Prize finalist) and Adrift in Macao(book/lyrics Durang, music by Peter Melnick). His latest play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play and is currently running on Broadway. Other awards include the Harvard Arts Medal, the Sidney Kingsley Playwriting Award as well as being the 2008 honoree at the William Inge Festival.

Beyond Therapy began performances at The Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 and the show officially opens tonight. Performances will continue through Saturday, April 19th.

Beyond Therapy plays the following performance schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 & 8:00 p.m., and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 - $58.00 and are available by visiting www.telecharge.com or calling (212) 239-6200.
