Harry Bouvy to Star in Staged Reading of ON THE TREETOP by Jay Russell on 6/18

Jay Russell and Adam Fitzgerald have announced two upcoming staged readings of ON THE TREETOP (by Jay Russell) on Monday, June 18th at 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM at the Alvin Ailey Studios. The facility is located at 405 West 55th Street (at 9th Avenue). The reading is an invited presentation.

ON THE TREETOP will feature Harry Bouvy (Silence! The Musical), Laura Jordan (Cry Baby), Kelly McAndrew (Still Life) and Vince Nappo (Boeing-Boeing Hartford Stage). The reading will be directed by Adam Fitzgerald (kef theatrical productions).

ON THE TREETOP is the story of Alex and Martin and their quest to adopt a child. Encountering countless obstacles and personalities along the way, this modern gay couple find themselves on the road to fatherdom, until one day everything changes. Throughout Russell's dark comedy, ON THE TREETOP explores parenthood in today's world and asks the question: Who really is fit to raise a child?

Jay Russell (Playwright): On the Treetop is Jay’s first full-length play. He was co-author and co-star of An Evening With Burton and Russell (Rattlestick, Ars Nova, Chashama, NY Fringe Festival). As an actor, Jay’s credits include: Broadway: End of the Rainbow(Belasco), The Play What I Wrote(Lyceum). Off Broadway: Our Town (Barrow Street), Around the World in 80 Days (Irish Rep), The Normal Heart (Public), The Green Heart (MTC). National Tours: Beauty & the Beast, Applause. Regional: City of Angels (Goodspeed), Civil War Christmas (Long Wharf), Noises Off (Arena Stage), Natural Selection (Humana Festival), Gross Indecency (Repertory Theatre of St. Louis), Importance of Being Earnest (Cincinnati Playhouse), Midsummer Night’s Dream (Utah Shakespeare), Fully Committed (Vienna, Austria), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Frankfurt, Germany). Adam Fitzgerald (Director) is the Artistic Director of kef theatrical productions, where he recently directed Killing Women and Lyric is Waiting. Current projects include Steven Strafford’s Methtacular!, Don Creedon’s The Lobby and Jim Bredeson’s Even for One Night. Adam was the 2008-09 Directing Resident at PlaywrightsHorizons assisting Wilson Milam, Bartlett Sher and Kate Whoriskey on plays by Nicky Silver (Three Changes with Maura Tierney), Craig Lucas (Prayer for my Enemy with Victoria Clark and Jonathan Groff) and Christina Anderson (Inked Baby with LaChanze) and served as the 2007-08 Artistic Associate Playhouse West (where his production of Defiance garnered Critics Circle nominations for Director and Production). Adam recently directed Michael I Walker’s Letter From Algeria at the Abingdon (with Ground Up Productions), Marc Castle’s Friends and Relations (at the Abingdon Theatre Complex) and the 92YTribeca concert of Carner and Gregor’s song cycle, Island Song.
