Classic Stage Company (CSC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Jessica R. Jenen, will present acclaimed actors Alan Cumming and Brian Cox in a special one night only staged reading of DEAD DAD DOG, written by John McKay, Monday evening, November 29 at CSC (136 East 13th Street) at 8 pm. The reading will be staged by Brian Kulick. A limited number of tickets are available to the public at $25.

Meet Eck. He's your average, aspiring, unemployed, Scottish bloke. Meet Willie, his garishly dressed, Hoover ex-salesman of a Dad. A typical day becomes hilariously madcap, when the two suddenly find themselves inexplicably reunited, given the fact that Willie's been dead for twelve years.

DEAD DAD DOG continues the venerable story-telling tradition that chronicles the conflict between fathers and sons, a genre that has a lineage beginning with Oedipus Rex and working its way through Hamlet and Long Day's Journey Into Night. Author John McKay gives this age old conflict a rich comic turn in his celebrated play.

John McKay started writing and performing professionally with the radical scots comedy group The Merry Mac Fun Show in 1985. In 1988 DEAD DAD DOG premiered at the Edinburgh Traverse theatre and transferred to a successful run at The Royal Court Theatre upstairs in London. McKay also adapted the play into a television series for the BBC in the early 90's. Other work includes Hellbent On Christmas (Traverese theatre), Stubborn Kinda Fellow (Channel Four Television) and Up With Bob and Jesse. (Traverese Theatre)
