CATCH THE BUTCHER - a new play by Adam Seidel about what happens when a single woman sets off to find the serial killer of other single women - will be given its Off-Broadway premiere this fall when Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.) kicks off its 92nd anniversary season with the production, directed by Valentina Fratti. Opening night is set for tonight, September 29, 2015.

The cast of this dark comic three-hander features Angelina Fiordellisi, Lauren Velez and Jonathan Walker.

CATCH THE BUTCHER has scenic design by Lauren Helpern, lighting design by Graham Kindred, costume design by Brooke M. Cohen and sound and music design by Quentin Chiapetta.

Adam Seidel is a Chicago-based playwright whose full-length plays produced there include HAROLD AFTER, and a series of plays entitled CRIME SCENE. Director Fratti most recently directed the Miranda Theatre Company's revival of Joe Pintauro's SNOW ORCHID on Theatre Row, and previously directed Jeff Daniels's APARTMENT 2A at the Arclight Theatre.

Angelina Fiordellisi recently appeared in Zephyr Benson's independent feature STRAIGHT OUTTA TOMPKINS and Adriana Trigiani's soon-to-be-released BIG STONE GAP, as well as Off-Broadway in Joe Pintauro's SNOW ORCHID.

Lauren Velez appears on WEtv's horror series SOUTH OF HELL and previously appeared as a serial killer on DEXTER, winning the Vision Award for Best Actress.

Jonathan Walker has appeared on Broadway in THE ASSEMBLED PARTIES, 20TH CENTURY and AFTER THE FALL. His film credits include IT HAD TO BE YOU and FAR FROM HEAVEN.

Following CATCH THE BUTCHER on Cherry Lane's 2015-16 season will be the first English-language production in the U.S. of Ingmar Bergman's NORA - based on Ibsen's A DOLL'S HOUSE - directed by Austin Pendleton and featuring Larry Bull (THE COAST OF UTOPIA), Andrea Cirie (Shakespeare Theatre in DC), Todd Gearhart (BYE BYE BIRDIE on Broadway), Jean Lichty (Mr. Pendleton's productions of A LOSS OF ROSES and BUS STOP), and George Morfogen (a regular with Mint Theatre including A PICTURE OF AUTUMN, THE VOYSEY INHERITANCE and THE LONELY WAY. NORA will begin previews and open in November.

One of the most renowned theatres in the country, Cherry Lane Theatre has produced a large succession of plays by leading writers from F. Scott Fitzgerald to Gertrude Stein, Samuel Beckett, Edward Albee and Harold Pinter. Under the artistic leadership of Angelina Fiordellisi since 1996, Cherry Lane remains devoted to developing and producing new works for the stage through its various programs including the award-winning Mentor Project, which each year pairs established playwrights with emerging writers for a season of dramaturgy, rehearsal, casting and production. Mentor Project returns this season for its 18th season with mentors Rajiv Joseph, Katori Hall and Sheila Callaghan, marking the first time in the program's history that formerly mentored playwrights return to Cherry Lane as mentors to other playwrights.

Angelina Fiordellisi is Founding Artistic Director of Cherry Lane Theatre; Seri Lawrence is Literary Manager and Janio Marrero is Facility Director.

CATCH THE BUTCHER will perform September 23 to October 30: Mondays to Saturdays at 7:30 with the following exceptions: Saturdays September 26, October 17 and 24 there will be two performances per day - 5 pm and 9 pm.
