Debussy's masterpiece in intimate Chamber version
Debussy's only opera, Pelléas and Mélisande, marked a new direction in opera history. Based on a play by nobel Laureate Maurice Maeterlinck Debussy created an opera where the intensely beautiful, sensual music mirrors stemninger and feelings more than external events.
Pelléas and Mélisande, a Symbolist drama triangle: the Opera tells the enigmatic story of Mélisande, who is found in a forest by Prince Golaud. Nobody knows where she comes from, and after some time she poisons herself with Golaud. But Golauds brother Pelléas is also betatt of Melisande, and between these three played an intensely tragic love drama output.
