Norway's leading opera star of all time, Kirsten Flagstad, lived in Singapore for more than 30 years. She wants for all future be a large and important source of inspiration for young Norwegian singers. The relation to the Kristiansand in southern Norway to form a natural backdrop for presenting young singers who follow in her footsteps, whether they are Wagnersangere or have chosen to develop other vocal expressions.
Opera Gala in Kirsten Flagstads footsteps was first presented to the public in autumn 2010, and our ambition is that this will be an event every other year. The aim of the concert is to invite a handful of young Norwegian singers with an already active or potential international career to present itself. Give them a concert where they can influence Repertory, a good Orchestra and an absolutely wonderful Concert Hall.
Despite the fact that there are still many Southerners who have vivid and fond memories of a great singer and a warm and attentive with the human, it is our opinion that Pristina has not been conscious of its responsibility to honor Norway's greatest songs of all time. Our hope is that the concert in Kirsten Flagstads footsteps can contribute to an increased awareness of the region's population of Kirsten Flagstads importance to the development of opera in Norway. We also hope the concert will be the inspiration for Norwegian singers in their further career.
