Virginia Stage Company's 40th Anniversary Season Continues with FUN HOME

By:

MacArthur Genius Award Winner, Alison Bechdel's iconic graphic novel comes to life at the Wells Theatre in this Tony Award-winning masterpiece musical. Directed by Jessica Holt, Fun Home follows Bechdel's journey of self-discovery as she recounts the mysteries of her childhood with her father in the family funeral home. Coming to understand her past leads her on a path of self-discovery and her own journey as an LGBTQ+ writer, artist, and woman.

Director Jessica Holt returns to Virginia Stage after previously directing Season 38's hit comedy, Venus in Fur.

"Heart-gripping and cathartic" (The New York Times), Fun Home explores the complex narrative of coming-of-age and coming out that is often shared among so many in the LGBTQ+ community. Join Virginia Stage for this groundbreaking musical enjoyed by play and musical lovers alike that brings forward aspects of our society that do not often take center stage.

Fun Home begins on January 23 with an official opening night on January 26, and continues with performances through February 10. Tickets range $20 - $55 with discounts for groups, students, and the military. For more information about group tickets and events, contact Tiara Dimond at groups@vastage.org.

Second Act Memberships for the remainder of Virginia Stage Company's 40th season are available for purchase with prices ranging from $79 - $176. Membership includes tickets to Fun Home, Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye, Native Gardens, and Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical.

Interviews can be arranged with members of the cast, crew, creative team, or staff of Virginia Stage Company. All reviews are welcome, and tickets can be provided to anyone who wishes to see the production for these purposes.
