Virginia Stage Announces Diverse Cast to Star in NATIVE GARDENS Image

Virginia Stage Company brings to life National Latino Playwriting Award winner Karen Zacharias poignant modern comedy, Native Gardens. When is a fence more than just a fence? In this hilarious and topical comedy, a rising attorney, Pablo, and Tania his pregnant, PhD candidate wife clash with their well-intentioned neighbors and learn that sometimes the small things in life represent a lot more. The ensuing battle of tossed words and acorns challenges the characters and audience to examine their views on race, affluence, and influence, as it shines a light on just what it means to be a good neighbor.

This production will mark the first time that Virginia Stage has staged a production with multiple Latinx characters in leading roles.

Native Gardens begins with previews on April 10 and must close April 28. Tickets range $20 - $55 with discounts for groups, students, and the military. For more information about group tickets and events, contact Tiara Dimond at groups@vastage.org.

This production is recommended for ages 14 and up due to mild adult themes and language.

Virginia Stage Company is southeastern Virginia's leading theatre destination, serving an audience of over 70,000 annually both at the Wells Theatre and throughout the community. Virginia Stage Company's mission is to "enrich, educate, and entertain the region by creating and producing theatrical art of the highest quality."
