The City of Fairfax Theatre Company to Present JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT

The City of Fairfax Theatre Company (CFTC) will present Tim Rice and Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," July 21-29, 2017. Performances of the electrifying musical will take place in Sydney Lanier Middle School, 3801 Jermantown Rd, Fairfax, VA 22030.
"Joseph" was nominated for eight Tony Awards when it debuted in the U.S. in 1982. The production was significantly revamped for its 1993 Broadway revival to include a larger cast and expanded dance numbers and CFTC is proud to be presenting that version to audiences.
"Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat" retells the Biblical story of Joseph - Israel's favorite son. Eleven brothers and one coat of many colors form a magical musical filled with unforgettable songs and high energy dance numbers. "I always go back to, when describing this show, is 'electric,'" explains Erich DiCenzo, director and choreographer for the production. "We are looking to bring new life and excitement to this classic piece. Our music, dance, and set have been updated to give audiences a modern, electric feel."
DiCenzo is joined by Kirsten Boyd, the producer and music director for the production. The duo has previous paired on "Hairspray!" and "The Music Man," for CFTC, as well as for four productions at Fairfax High School, where DiCenzo currently serves as Director of Theater Arts.
"In the past few years, we've seen a growth in talent coming out to audition for CFTC shows," says Boyd. "It's really exciting to see the community get behind these projects. Besides the more than 40 people in the cast, we have a large group of volunteers and staff all working together to create the set, costumes, props and other production needs."
Tickets for "Joseph" are available online in advance at www.fairfaxcitytheatre.org and are $15 for adults (ages 13+) and $10 for children. Prices at the door are $18 and $13, respectively. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday matinees at 2 p.m.; Sunday matinee at 3 p.m. Group (10+) pricing is available for Thursday evening, and Saturday and Sunday matinees. Free parking is available.
CFTC is gratefully supported by the City of Fairfax Commission on the Arts, the Arts Council of Fairfax County, the Virginia Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
