Four County Players Announces Fall Workshops

Four County Players (5256 Governor Barbour Street, Barboursville) announces their fall workshop schedules. The workshops ranging in ages and in topic. More workshops may be announced soon. Please visit the website to register: www.fourcp.org/workshops

Beginning September 7th, there will be "Toddler Sing Along" for children, two to five years old. This class will be on Tuesdays, 9:00 to 9:45 AM. The fee is $4 per week. Instructor Pam Edelman will lead the class with many classic songs as well as new songs along the way. There will be opportunities to sing, shout, dance and move about. All children need to be accompanied by an adult. Younger siblings may tag a long for free.

From September 14th to October 12th, middle and high school students may attend a weekly theatre class to improve their theatre skills. On Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6:00 PM, instructor Geri Sauls will cover scene work, improv, auditions, musical theater, and technical ideas. Fee is $60.

From September 9th to October 14th, there will be two improvisation classes held on Thursdays by instructor Katy Walker. The first session is from 4:00 to 5:00 PM and is for those in kindergarten to second grade. The second session is from 5:15 to 6:15 PM and is for those in third to fifth grade. Students will learn to develop and sharpen their improvisation skills. Fee is $60.

A "Beginning Sewing for the Stage" class will be held on September 20th and 27th, October 18th and 25th, and November 1st, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. Instructor Cathy Brinkley will teach the basics of sewing in order to make an apron as well as basic stitching skills like hemming and sewing on buttons and snaps. This class, which is for 12 year olds to adults, is a precursor to a more in-depth class to be taught in the winter. There is a limit of five students and the fee is $60. During registration, please note if a portable sewing machine is owned.

Founded in 1973, Four County Players is Central Virginia's longest continuously-operating community theater. For more than 35 years, the players have delighted audiences with a full range of theater experiences. Located in the small village of Barboursville, the theater is the cultural hub for the community, serving as both an artistic and educational center. The Players are well known for their masterful musicals, hilarious comedies and magical productions of Shakespeare.
