CenterStage Foundation Announces the James E. and Barbara B. Ukrop Legacy Endowment
CenterStage Foundation's Board of Directors today announced the James E. and Barbara B. Ukrop Legacy Endowment as part of the ongoing Landmark and Legacies Capital and Endowment Campaign.
This endowment honors the lifetime commitment of both Jim and Bobbie Ukrop to the enduring catalytic power of the performing arts on the Richmond community. Funds invested in the Ukrop Legacy Endowment will help to sustain CenterStage Foundation in support of its mission and vision.
A celebration of the announcement will be held on Wednesday, November 14 at 6:00pm in Richmond CenterStage's Donor Lounge. The event will culminate with the unveiling of the Ukrop Legacy Endowment Donor Recognition signage. This permanent signage will not only honor Jim and Bobbie Ukrop, but recognize all of the generous leadership donors to the Legacy Endowment.
"Jim and Bobbie Ukrop's impact on the performing arts community in the Richmond region is truly immeasurable," said Richmond CenterStage Executive Director Richard M. Parison, Jr. "We are all fortunate to count the Ukrops as part of the CenterStage family. Each day, the entire staff works to make a reality the vision set out by the Ukrops: for CenterStage to be a catalyst for the arts in Richmond and Central Virginia."
"I know I speak for the entire CenterStage Board of Directors when I say how thrilled we are to have Jim and Bobbie Ukrop's Legacy Endowment represented with this beautiful recognition," said J. Robert Mooney, Chairman of Richmond CenterStage's Board of Directors. "As part of the Landmark and Legacies Capital and Endowment Campaign, it is our sincere hope that this newly-named endowment will translate into our most successful fundraising campaign to date."
The Landmark and Legacies Capital and Endowment Campaign, which was announced in July, is a joint effort to raise capital funds for the renovations of the historic Landmark Theater and the newly-named James E. and Barbara B. Ukrop Legacy Endowment. To date, the Legacy Endowment has raised and pledged $2 million.
The larger purpose of the campaign is to not only restore and renovate the soon-to-be-renamed Altria Theater, but to grow the CenterStage Endowment through contributions from local, state, and national sources. It also intends to cement the cultural legacy of CenterStage Foundation by providing greater funding stability by augmenting annual giving helping the performing arts center fulfill its mission to foster a lifetime engagement in the performing arts through dynamic artistic programming, transformational educational outreach, and collaborative community partnerships.
