THE SANTA CLUES CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
In casting The Santa Clues, Virginia Repertory Theatre endeavors to be as inclusive as possible. We invite all performers, including gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors, to submit for the roles they most identify with. We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities.
- AGENT DRAKE - Any gender, also portrays additional male and female characters throughout the four stories. 20s - 30s; Former FBI, recently “recruited” into the Bureau of Oddities. A good agent, skeptical and inquisitive. Less experienced and probably younger than Agent Fletcher.
- AGENT FLETCHER - Written for a male, will consider any gender, also portrays several other male characters within the four scenes. 30s - 50s; A 15-year veteran of the Bureau of Oddities, Fletch has been around the block a few times and seen a lot. A good agent, though obsessed with his quest for Santa, and somewhat frustrated with Drake’s lack of equal enthusiasm.
- NICHOLAS/ODIN/SANTA - He/Him, 50s - 70s; The living embodiment of Christmas, Yule, Winter, and all other incarnations of the spirit of giving. He is not literally the same character in each story, but needs to be able to convey variations of the Big Guy We All Know appropriate to each of the four tales in the play. All body types are welcome to audition.
- We will also be hiring one swing to cover all roles.
