This rip-roaring comedy follows Richard Hannay, a seemingly ordinary man who gets entangled in an international espionage plot after meeting a mysterious woman. When she’s murdered, he becomes the prime suspect and must go on the run to clear his name. Directed by Anthony Whitehouse and adapted comedically for the stage by Patrick Barlow, The 39 Steps is based on filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1935 spy thriller & the John Buchan novel that came before it. Winning the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, this play's been a worldwide hit ever since. With shadowy spies, thrilling chases, and over-the-top characters, The 39 Steps is a whirlwind of humour, suspense, and theatrical ingenuity: One actor plays Hannay, the leading lady portrays three characters, and between them two more actors play every single other character (often several per scene!) Our awesome cast is:
Francis Mountjoy - playing Richard Hannay.
Charlie Parker - Annabella, Margaret, and Pamela.
Rebecca Scholtz - Clown 1 (Mrs Memory, Mrs Higgins, Salesman 1, Paperboy, Policeman 1, Pilot 1, Mrs Jordan, Inspector, Mrs Dunwoody, Gangster 1, Mrs McGarrigle).
Jack Chen-Sinclair - Clown 2 (Compere, Milkman, Salesman 2, Policeman 2, Porter, Crofter, Pilot 2, Professor, Sheriff, Mr McQuarry, Gangster 2, Mr McGarrigle, Albright).
