Anais Chalendard and Patrick Yocum to Appear in Shreveport Metropolitan's Production of THE NUTCRACKER

ANAIS CHALENDARD, principal dancer of the Boston Ballet, and PATRICK YOCUM, soloist of the Boston Ballet, will be appearing as guest artists in the Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet's production of The Nutcracker on Friday, December 9 (Evening), Saturday, December 10 (Matinee), and Sunday, December 11 (Matinee), 2016 at the Riverview Theatre in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet has added a third performance for the company's annual engagement of The Nutcracker for this season.

Disney Theatrical Productions and the New Orleans Theatre Association announced today tickets for the long-awaited engagement of Disney's THE LION KING will go on sale to the public Friday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. The show will leap onto the Saenger Theatre stage for the first time Wednesday, Jan. 4, for a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, Jan. 29. THE LION KING is a subscription option of the East Jefferson General Hospital Broadway in New Orleans 2016 - 2017 season.

Lucky for all of us here in New Orleans, Mark Cortale is again bringing his Broadway in New Orleans series to the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) beginning tonight at 7:30pm.  The first concert of the 2016-2017 series features an actor/singer who you may know from any number of Broadway shows such as LES MISERABLES, SHE LOVES ME, and most recently FUN HOME.  Or, if you grew up in the 90s like me, you may know her as the barefoot running, Native American, Disney princess Pocahontas.  Is "Colors of the Wind" anyone else's go-to road trip jam?

The Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans (CAC) is pleased to announce two performances of the provocative dance performance by FLOCK--The Lipstick--choreographed by local choreographer Meryl Murman and accompanied by a solo violin and a tube of lipstick. Both performances will take place in the CAC's Freeport-McMoRan Theater, with the first being the U.S. Premiere on September 30 and the final performance taking place as part of the 2016 CAC's Art for Arts' Sake | DOWNTOWN on October 1.

This past weekend was the second in a three week run of Stephen Schwartz's PIPPIN at Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre.  The show opened their 2016-2017 season in Le Petit's 100th year, which is something to celebrate in and of itself.  New Orleans is full of history and Le Petit has certainly been a wonderful part of that history for a whole century!  So before I go any further… congratulations to the Le Petit family, and happy 100th birthday!

The Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans (CAC) announces a renovation project and new tenant, The Domain Companies, in the Besthoff Building at 900 Camp Street. The project will take place between October 1, 2016 and August 1, 2017. It will allow for significant improvements to existing spaces and for the addition of new spaces for the presentation of both Visual Arts and Performing Arts programming at the CAC.

Playing the oldest Von Trapp daughter, Liesl, is Paige Silvester. The role was made famous by the recently deceased Charmain Carr (may she rest in peace) in the 1965 film by the same name. Silvester hails from Sacramento, California; earned her BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan; is no stranger to the stage; and writes a really fun blog. She grew up dancing, singing, and acting, and has performed The Muny, Sacramento Music Circus, and was most recently seen in the ensemble of the Broadway 1st National Tour of EVITA.

Nearly 7 trillion gallons of rain poured onto Louisiana between August 8 and August 14. The flooding that resulted damaged at least 146,000 homes and left 13 people dead. In the four seasons since the Broadway in New Orleans series first launched, Broadway and Television's brightest lights have blazed a path to the Big Easy each season thanks to Producing Artistic Director Mark Cortale and Sirius XM radio star Seth Rudetsky. In this, the series' fifth season in New Orleans, the star-powered tradition continues with Judy Kuhn, Tony-nominated star of "Fun Home" and Broadway's original Cosette in "Les Miserables" and the voice of Disney's "Pocahontas" on October 6 at 7:30 PM. She is followed by Gavin Creel, Olivier Award Winning star of She Loves Me and The Book of Mormon, on December 15 at 7:30 PM, and Adam Pascal, the original Roger in the Broadway blockbuster "Rent," as well as the London production, and the film version, on January 14, 2017 at 8:00 PM.
