Saenger Theatre to Reopen this Fall with Private Parking for Patrons

By:

The historic Saenger Theatre, slated to re-open in fall 2013, announced today it is now offering convenient, private parking to patrons. Located half a block from the Theatre across Canal Street, the partner garage, University Place Garage, will now provide patrons the option of securing guaranteed parking accommodations prior to Saenger events.

Saenger ticket purchasers will have the opportunity to pre-pay for their parking while buying concert and show tickets through Ticketmaster.com, or at the Saenger box office. This option will provide the patron with a reserved space at the garage the day of the event, starting over an hour and a half prior to the show, continuing up to one hour after the show finishes. The garage, located at 145 University Place, will be patrolled by the New Orleans Police Department, who will escort patrons across Canal Street to the Theatre.

"We are dedicated to creating a pleasant, comfortable and memorable experience for all of our patrons, and we understand that providing convenient, no hassle parking is a critical component to that experience," said David Skinner, General Manager, Saenger Theatre.

Originally built in 1927, the Saenger Theatre was designed to reflect a magnificent 15th century Italian courtyard and gardens, with a starlit evening sky ceiling, arched surroundings, statuary, columns and decorative moldings. In January 2012, the City of New Orleans, Canal Street Development Corporation (CSDC) and ACE Theatrical Group formed a public-private partnership to carry out a $52 million restoration project after the iconic theatre was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina. The Saenger Theatre will reopen in fall 2013, authentically restored to the finest level of detail, with state-of-the-art technological improvements and updated first-class amenities. The theatre will host a wide variety of performing arts attractions including live theater, comedy shows and musical acts. The Saenger Theatre is located at the corner of Canal and North Rampart streets in downtown New Orleans and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
