Ricky Graham to Premiere New Musical at Loyola

By:

Celebrated playwright and New Orleans native Ricky Graham will present the world premiere of his musical, "The Money Box," at Loyola University New Orleans in March. The production features music by Loyola alumnus Jefferson Turner '99 and lyrics by Graham and Sean Patterson.

Presented by the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance, this exciting adaptation of Moliere's "The Miser" will run in Marquette Theater March 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 at 8 p.m., March 10 at 6 p.m. and March 17 at 2 p.m.

Set in New Orleans in the 1960s, Graham's adaptation of Moliere's classic satire tells the story of Midas Harpagon, the notoriously stingy owner of the Bourbon Street club, The Money Box, and his vivacious children. In their longing to escape the control of their father and marry the lovers of their choice, the children wonder, "Will love or the love of money prevail?"

Tickets are $12 for general admission and $8 for Loyola faculty, staff, students and seniors. For tickets and information, visitmontage.loyno.edu or call 504-865-2074. Free parking is available in the West Road Garage located on West Road and accessible from St. Charles Avenue.

For more information or to schedule an interview with Graham, contact Jess Brown in Loyola's Office of Public Affairs at 504-861-5882.
