Jefferson Performing Arts Society is holding auditions for children, ages 7 to 12, on Saturday, September 11th for their upcoming production of HOW TO EAT LIKE A CHILD. The auditions begin at 9AM at Teatro Wego! Theatre (177 Sala Avenue in Westwego). Auditions are by appointment only which may be made by calling 504-885-2000 ext. 202.

Kids and parents should download an audition packet with helpful info and rehearsal schedule prior to the audition. Rehearsals will be held in the evenings and on weekends beginning October 5 at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre, 177 Sala Avenue in Westwego. Performances will be weekends at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre November 12-21, Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30PM, Saturdays & Sunday matinees at 2PM, with special matinees for school groups November 11 and 12 at 9:45am and 11:15am. Meredith Long directs with musical direction by Jonne Dendinger. Please note, in order to allow the most kids to participate in this program, this production will be double-cast. The Jefferson Performing Arts Society is a non-profit professional arts organization whose mission is to promote arts performance, training, and outreach by providing a diverse range of quality programs that entertain, educate and enrich the cultural and economic vitality of Jefferson Parish, Greater New Orleans and the Gulf South.

The JPAS Theatre Kids! program began in Fall 2008. This program gives kids year-round opportunities to participate in theatre, experience the process of putting on a show as well as learning basic acting techniques and skills. There is no enrollment fee to participate in and auditions for Theatre Kid! productions are held two months prior to performances. Be sure to check back for Theatre Kids!
