Sizwe Banzi is Dead is a powerful condemnation of Apartheid, written by South African playwright Athol Fugard along with John Kani and Winston Ntshona, and has been celebrated since its groundbreaking debut in Cape Town in 1972. The play earned the 1974 Theatre Critics Award for Best Play and Tony Awards for Kani and Ntshona upon its New York premiere. Atandwa Kani stars as Buntu/Styles, stepping into the iconic role originated by his father John Kani, while Kelcey Watson portrays Sizwe Banzi.
