Crossroads Theatre Company presents Sizwe Banzi is Dead, written by Athol Fugard, John Kani, and Winston Ntshona, directed by Co-Founder and Artistic Director Ricardo Khan in collaboration with Tony Award winner John Kani. The play, set during South Africa's apartheid era, follows a man who must choose between disappearing under an unjust system or reinventing himself to survive. Atandwa Kani stars as Buntu/Styles — a role made iconic by his father, John Kani — alongside Kelcey Watson as Sizwe Banzi. Originally premiered in Cape Town in 1972, the production won the 1974 Theatre Critics Award for Best Play and earned Tony Awards for Kani and Winston Ntshona following its New York debut.
