NJFO presents a "touch of the folksy" in its program on Oct. 1st - "From Olden American Times" at Hertell Gardens! - An appetizer before NJFO opening concert on Nov. 5 & 6 for season 2022-2023.
Every piece has a "grass roots" element to it - from Stravinsky's "Pulcinella" with is pastorales, gavottes, tarantellas, and jigs to Copland's Appalachian flavors in his "Old American Folk Songs" and finally to Gershwin's ultimate American Folk Opera "Porgy and Bess". It's music for America's Musical Constitution - "...of the people, by the people, for the people!"
