Rodgers and Hammerstein’s enchanting adaptation of the timeless fairytale, Cinderella, is the original “Princess musical,” with a timeless score that sparkles with originality and charm from the writers of The Sound of Music and The King and I. The innocent desire to attend the Prince’s ball leads young Cinderella to overcome her depressing life of servitude to achieve her dream of a better life. With a score made famous by the original star of the television musical Julie Andrews, Cinderella features some of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible,” and “Ten Minutes Ago.” The new Broadway stage adaptation is a contemporary take on the classic tale with an updated hilarious libretto by Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane, still retaining all the romance and magic of the original. The Axelrod production is directed and choreographed by Todd LaBron Underwood.
