Adelphi Orchestra:Mystical Songs and Dances of Scheherazade at Riverdell Middle School

The Adelphi Orchestra continues its 63rd season of “Music for All” with a concert entitled “Mystical Songs and Dances of Scheherazade” Sunday March 26th 3PM at River Dell Regional Middle School. The orchestra will perform works by Rimsky-Korsakov and Maurice Ravel and will be conducted by Richard Owen. The concert will feature guest soloists soprano Sara Pearson and Ballet Neo. The concert is free and open to the public and is supported in part by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, through funds administered by the Bergen County Department of Parks, Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
Adelphi Orchestra’s concert “Mystical Songs and Dances of Scheherazade” will showcase two beloved compositions by Maurice Ravel, Le tombeau de Couperin and Ravel’s own work Schehezade, his rarely performed interpretation of the enigmatic tale of the Arabian Nights scored for solo voice and orchestra.
The concert’s finale will present Rimsky-Korsakov’s masterwork Scheherazade, Op. 35. Accompanying Rimsky-Korsakov’s orchestral work, The Adelphi Orchestra proudly presents the premiere of an original work of choreography by Kate Thomas featuring New York City’s noted dance troupe Ballet Neo.
